Ballentine Partners employees, Will Braman, Chief Investment Officer, and Alex Knapp, Investment Analyst, were interviewed in the Financial Advisor IQ article, “The Wrong Way to Use Liquid Alts”.
Alex Knapp is an Investment Advisor at the firm. His research efforts are focused on liquid alternative strategies. Prior to joining the firm in 2012, Alex worked for Banco Santander/Sovereign Bank in Boston as a Strategic Market Analyst where he researched and analyzed global banking performance. Prior to that, Alex worked for MFS Investment Management in their Advisory Resources Group analyzing mutual funds and for Bedford Lending Corporation where he analyzed and projected future cash flows of commercial real estate. Alex graduated from Bentley University as a Dean’s List recipient with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 2011. While at Bentley, he was the Head Columnist for Bentley’s Economics and Finance Society where he interviewed top members of the Federal Reserve and former Presidential Economic Advisors. Alex holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Will Braman is a Partner, Senior Investment Advisor, and Chief Investment Officer at the firm. He is responsible for leading the investment team and managing the investment process. Will has over 30 years of experience in investment management, and more than 20 years in executive leadership roles within asset management companies. Most recently, Will was the CEO of the Americas for Fortis Investments until its acquisition by BNP Paribas, where he led a team of 130 professionals in Fortis’ expansion into North and South America. Prior to that, Will served as the Chief Investment Officer for John Hancock Advisers & Funds, where he managed the managers and analysts responsible for more than $30B in assets. Will also spent nearly 20 years with Baring Asset Management, where he rose to the position of CIO in London, after a long tenure as the head of the Boston-based investment team. Will began his career at Bank of Boston as an equity and credit analyst.
