Jennifer Christian Murtie serves as Chief Wealth Advisory Officer of Ballentine Partners. She oversees all the firm’s wealth advisors while guiding the strategic direction of our wealth advisory practice. She works to ensure that clients receive an integrated experience through financial planning, investment management, and family well-being solutions. She is a Partner and serves on the firm’s Board of Managers.
Previously, Jennifer led our High Net Worth Practice, which caters to clients with $4 million to $30 million of investable assets. The practice provides a fully integrated approach to financial planning and investment management, offering clients access to the firm’s broader investment capabilities strategy in a structure tailored to their needs.
Prior to joining Ballentine Partners, Jennifer was a partner and Chief Operating Officer at Pathstone; before that, she was a partner and President at Federal Street Advisors, where she played a key role in the firm’s strategic growth and its eventual acquisition by Pathstone in 2016. Her experience spans leadership roles in client service, operations, marketing, and strategic business initiatives. Earlier in her career, she held positions at The Moriah Fund and Old Silk LLC, further strengthening her expertise in wealth management, team leadership, and philanthropy.
Jennifer is a recognized thought leader in wealth management, philanthropy, family governance, family office leadership and strategy. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and regularly participates in panels addressing a wide range of wealth management topics. She also serves on the board of a private family foundation.
Jennifer earned her MBA from the Simmons School of Management and holds a BA in Sociology and International Relations from Houghton University. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family, traveling, and playing golf. She grew up in Kenya and now resides in Winchester, MA, with her husband and children.
