Stephen Hopkins joined Ballentine Partners in 2016 and served as Partner and Executive Chairman, providing strategic leadership, chairing the Board of Managers, and mentoring colleagues throughout the firm. His wisdom, experience, and dedication to developing others left a lasting impact on Ballentine Partners.
Throughout his distinguished career, Stephen held senior leadership positions at some of the world’s leading financial institutions, including Citigroup Asset Management, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and Roundtable Investment Partners, which he co-founded. He also served on several nonprofit and corporate boards, reflecting his commitment to leadership and service.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stephen was an accomplished chef, a fine wine enthusiast, and a devoted husband to his wife, Judy.
Stephen passed away in 2026 and his loss is felt deeply by all his colleagues at Ballentine Partners. Stephen will be remembered for his thoughtful leadership, generous mentorship, and meaningful contributions to the firm and the broader financial services profession.
